Transports

Keeshond Angels Rescue and Transport is different than most rescue groups because one of our goals is to actively assist in transporting dogs.  These dogs may be coming into foster from a shelter, puppy mill, or other situation where they are no longer wanted and the only foster home for them is a distance away.  Or it may be a foster dog going to its furever home which is not close.  It could also be a dog being returned to rescue or to a reputable breeder and distance is again involved.

Through many contacts across the county and with other rescue groups KART has many avenues open to move a dog from one part of the country to another.  Transports are not always for keeshonden.  Frequently a long transport will involve an overnight stay and a temporary foster home for overnight is needed.  KART can also assist in securing a safe home on the road for the traveling dog.  And dogs of all breeds may join in a long transport, hopping on and off as the transport moves across country.

If you know of a dog that needs transport assistance, please email info@keesangels.org and include as much information, including location and telephone number(s), as possible.

Recent Transports

02/24/08 - KART member Julie Jacob picked up Wookie and Yankee in Emporia, KS and transported them to Lawrence, KS.  We had a last minute passenger of a playful rottie girl who needed a lift to her temporary foster home in Kansas City.  I was happy to meet at the drop-off point in Lawrence Cindy Dressler, she is the Animal Control Supervisor for Leavenworth County, KS.  Cindy stated that she is grateful for working with rescue and doing transports is her way of giving back to them.  Rescue appreciates your help Cindy!  (sorry no pics)

02/02/08 - KART member Julie Jacob picked up Sam, a Shiba Inu, in Mound City, MO and he spent the night at chalet Jacob.  Sam was a cute guy headed from boarding to his new foster home in Oklahoma.  For more info on this breed, see Midwest Shiba Inu Rescue.  Here is a pic of Sam in his foster home

01/05/08 - KART members Kris Fancher and Julie Jacob picked up Max, a senior Saint Bernard, in St Joseph, MO and delivered him to his overnight stop in Topeka, KS.  Max was a very sweet and gentle boy who had seen recent hard times; he was on his way from a kill shelter in Sioux Falls, SD to a sanctuary home in Hays, KS.  We are happy to report that he is doing well at the sanctuary home where he is mending mind and body.  (sorry no pics)

12/9/07 - KART members Julie Jacob and Kris Fancher drove from Lawrence, KS to Florissant, MO to deliver 3 dogs from a high kill shelter in Kansas to a no kill high adoption shelter in Missouri.  There was a nice young lab mix boy, a cute West Highland Terrier middle age girl and a Chihuahua mix girl. (sorry no pics)

09/29/07 - Sheba, an Anatolian Shepherd, traveled from Olathe KS to Austin, TX. KART members Julie Jacob and Kris Fancher drove from Ottawa KS to Wichita KS with this sweet young gal.  Here’s a picture of Julie Jacob handing Sheba off to Julie Smith.
